Saturday May 10th 9am-Noon Adire Alabere Stitch Dye Resist w/ Kibibi Ajanku
Alabere refers to stitching. Patterns are created by stitching designs into the fabric with a needle and raffia thread, pulling the stitches tight to create gathers before dyeing. After dyeing and removing the threads, intricate linear patterns emerge, often more detailed and controlled than tie-dye.
May 10th and 11th: Fabric Printing with Live Flowers w/ Ayodele LaVeau
Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of natural dyeing, where flowers, plants, and the sun come together to transform ordinary fabrics into extraordinary works of art. Through a blend of Petal Hammering and Sun Printing techniques, you’ll create unique, nature-infused designs that reflect the beauty of the natural world. Choose from pre-treated upcycled fabrics or sarongs, allowing you to create one-of-a-kind wearables or decorative pieces to take home. Whether you're designing for style or art, this workshop offers a creative, hands-on experience that celebrates sustainability and creativity.
