Participants will use ancient skills and innovative technologies to create hand-dyed or hand-stitched Gullah-style rag dolls.A Gullah style rag doll typically reflects the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Gullah people—descendants of West African enslaved people who settled in the coastal regions and Sea Islands of South Carolina, Georgia, and northern Florida. These dolls are handmade, often using scraps of fabric and natural materials, and they carry deep cultural and historical significance.

All necessary supplies will be provided

If you are registered for a workshop using indigo dye techniques, feel free to bring an additional 1-3 pounds of 100% cotton fabric or clothing to use during the workshop.
